The Upper Room Daily Devotion | John 3:11-17

John 3:11-17 is a passage that emphasizes God’s love for the world and the gift of salvation that He offers through faith in Jesus Christ. In this passage, Jesus speaks with Nicodemus, a religious leader who is trying to understand the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus begins by speaking about the importance of believing in Him. He says in verse 11, “Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.” This verse reminds us that faith in Jesus is not just about understanding the facts, but it is about accepting His testimony and putting our trust in Him.

Jesus then goes on to speak about the incredible love that God has for the world. He says in verse 16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This verse reminds us that God’s love for us is not based on anything that we have done or deserve, but it is a free gift that we receive through faith in His Son.

As we reflect on this passage, let us be encouraged to put our faith in Jesus Christ and receive the gift of salvation that He offers. Let us also be reminded of the amazing love that God has for us, a love that is beyond our understanding but one that we can experience through faith in His Son. And let us live a life of gratitude and obedience, knowing that our salvation is secure in Him.
