The Upper Room Daily Devotion | JOHN 9:1-23
In John 9:1-23, Jesus heals a man who was born blind. This miracle not only demonstrates Jesus’ power and compassion, but it also reveals the spiritual blindness of the Pharisees who refused to believe in Him.
The Pharisees were more concerned with upholding their own religious traditions than with seeing the truth of Jesus’ identity and ministry. They were blind to the miraculous healing that had taken place right in front of them, and they refused to believe the testimony of the man who had been healed.
This passage challenges us to examine our own hearts and ask ourselves if we are truly seeing and understanding the work of God in our lives. Are we open to the possibility of miracles and transformation, or are we blinded by our own preconceptions and biases?
As we seek to follow Jesus and walk in His truth, let us ask Him to open our eyes and hearts to His work in our lives. Let us seek to see the world through His eyes, and to understand His ways and His will.
And let us be like the man who was healed, who testified boldly to the truth of Jesus’ power and compassion. Let us be willing to speak out and share the good news of His love and grace with others, even when it may be difficult or unpopular.
May we have eyes to see and ears to hear the truth of God’s love, and may we be bold and faithful witnesses to His transforming power in our lives and in the world around us.
