11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Sermon Description
Faith is often described as a belief in something greater than oneself. It is a powerful force that provides comfort, hope, and guidance to many people. However, it is important to understand that faith is not a feeling. It is not simply an emotion that comes and goes with our changing moods and circumstances.
Rather, faith is a choice that we make, a decision to trust in something beyond ourselves, even when we may not feel like it. It is a deliberate act of the will, a commitment to a set of beliefs and values that transcend our own individual desires and experiences.
This is not to say that faith cannot be accompanied by powerful emotions. Indeed, many people feel a deep sense of joy, peace, and purpose as a result of their faith. But these feelings are not the essence of faith itself.
At its core, faith is about a conviction that there is a higher purpose and meaning to our lives, and that we are part of something much greater than ourselves. It requires us to trust in the unseen, to embrace uncertainty and to surrender our own will to a greater power.
In this way, faith can be a source of great strength and resilience in the face of life’s challenges. It can provide a firm foundation on which to build our lives, and a sense of purpose and direction that can help us navigate even the most difficult circumstances.
