2 Nang panahong iyon, iniutos ni Emperador Augusto na magkaroon ng sensus sa lahat ng nasasakupan ng Imperyo ng Roma. 2 Ang unang sensus na ito ay ginawa noong si Cirenio ang gobernador ng Siria. 3 Kaya’t umuwi ang mga tao sa sarili nilang bayan upang magpatala.
4 Mula sa Nazaret, isang lungsod sa Galilea, si Jose ay pumunta sa Judea, sa Bethlehem na bayang sinilangan ni Haring David, sapagkat siya’y mula sa angkan ni David. 5 Kasama rin niyang umuwi upang magpatala si Maria na kanyang magiging asawa, na noon ay nagdadalang-tao. 6 Habang sila’y nasa Bethlehem, sumapit ang oras ng panganganak ni Maria. 7 Isinilang niya ang kanyang panganay, na isang lalaki. Binalot niya sa lampin ang sanggol at inihiga sa isang sabsaban, sapagkat wala nang lugar para sa kanila sa bahay-panuluyan.

2. Humble Birth: During Caesar Augustus’s reign, Joseph and Mary travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem for a census. Mary gives birth to Jesus and lays Him in a manger, as there is no room at the inn. This humble birth reveals about God’s character and plan.
3. Fulfillment of Prophecy: The circumstances of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem fulfill the prophecy that the Messiah would be born in the city of David. This event brought Mary to Bethlehem as she accompanied Joseph.
