The Upper Room Daily Devotion | JOHN 9:24-41

In John 9:24-41, the man who was healed of his blindness faces scrutiny and persecution from the Pharisees who refuse to believe in Jesus. They accuse him of being a sinner and try to discredit his testimony.

But the man stands firm in his belief and boldly proclaims that Jesus is a prophet sent from God. When the Pharisees continue to reject this truth, Jesus reveals Himself to the man, saying, “I am the one you are speaking of. You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” (John 9:37)

This passage reminds us of the power of testimony and the importance of standing firm in our belief in Jesus, even in the face of opposition and persecution. The man who was healed could have easily caved under the pressure of the Pharisees, but he remained faithful to his experience of Jesus’ power and love.

Similarly, we are called to bear witness to the truth of Jesus in our lives, even when it may be difficult or uncomfortable. We can draw strength from the example of this man and from the promise of Jesus’ presence with us.

As we share our faith with others, we can also trust that it is ultimately God who opens hearts and minds to the truth of His love and grace. We can pray for those who may be resistant to the Gospel, knowing that God is at work in ways that we may not be able to see or understand.

May we be bold and faithful witnesses to the truth of Jesus in our lives, and may we trust in His power and presence as we share His love with others.
